The Aircast Air-Stirrup® Ankle Brace Information

Since 1978, the Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace has been the "standard of care" for the functional management of ankle injuries.

Each Aircast Ankle Brace features anatomically designed shells lined with the patented Duplex
aircell system.

This exclusive system incorporates two pre-inflated overlapping aircells, distal and proximal, that provide support and produce graduated compression during ambulation. The compression promotes efficient edema reduction in addition to helping accelerate rehabilitation.

  • Resists inversion more than taping, yet normal flexion is virtually unrestricted.
  • It is perhaps the most widely used brace in orthopedics.
  • Graduated, pulsating compression "milks away" swelling and edema.
  • Patented Duplex Aircell system to enhance circulation and reduce swelling.
  • Anatomically contoured shells conform closely to the ankle with minimal bulk in the shoe.
  • Comfort and security encourage early return to function-protected.
  • Durable-guaranteed to last as long as required for the patient.

An Ankle Sprain is a stretching or tearing of the ligaments that support the ankle joint. Ligaments are strong bands of tissue that connect one bone to another and so help to hold joints together. In a sprain, the ligaments may have been overstretched, twisted or torn.

"More rigid than the Mueller HG80. I like how the air may be added for more cloud-like cushioning. It's like always having a pillow attached."
