Like its Hi-Top cousin, Low Top Walking Boots offer immobilization and stability of the foot ankle, in a lower profile variation. Low Top Walkers are also known as Short Walkers.
They are primarily used as a post operative or post injury device to maintain the foot and ankle at 90 degrees. Many low top walkers also have range of motion hinges on the side, or incorporate air bladders in the liners for additional ankle compression and comfort.
Low Top Walking Boots are also used following severe ankle sprains and forefoot/midfoot injuries and fractures. It is up to the treating doctor or healthcare professional to determine if a Hi-Top or Low-Top walker is indicated. Many foot related orthopedic conditions originate from the leg, so don't assume that a shorter version will be as effective as a tall walker.
The Brace Shop has a wide selection of air, ROM and standard low top walkers to choose from.
If you have any questions about the extensive line of low top walkers offered at The Brace Shop, just give us a call, email or instant message us. We are here to help you find the right low top walker for your orthopedic foot and ankle condition.
