Bledsoe Z-13 Knee Brace What is the MCL Ligament?

The medial collateral ligament is one of four major ligaments of the knee. It is on the medial (inner) side of the knee joint.

The MCL is usually injured when the outside of the knee joint is struck which causes the outside of the knee to buckle, and the inside to widen.

This device is indicated for increased support of knees following injury to or reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament when properly adjusted. Also indicated for increased support for patients who have continued symptoms of giving way, poor quadriceps or hamstring strength, or a desire for an early return to sports activities.

This device is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 90 days for wraps, pads, straps and normal wear components, 180 days for mechanical functionality and components. These warranties apply to devices that have not been modified or subjected to misuse, abuse or neglect.

Good quality

I recently tore my ACL and have opted to postpone surgery. This brace is very supportive and comfortable. I'm 5'2" and the athletic fit is the perfect length for me. The spacers make it easy to adjust the width of the hinge on your knee. When I first got the brace, the metal dug into my shin a bit. However, after about a week of breaking it in, it stopped rubbing on my shin. I've started running and cycling again and have not felt any instability while wearing the brace. I would definitely recommend this brace.

Good but overall okay

I tore my ACL last October and decide that I want to play soccer and avoid surgery as much as possible. It worked for soccer, the only thing I recommend is getting a type of liner so you don't have to worry about cleaning the foam padding every so often. The only real issue I had with the brace is the Velcro on the straps curling and stretching ((every once and awhile it would pinch my leg)). So if you can get an extra set of straps for replacement do it, especially if you plan on playing sports.

No surgery required!

I live in Miami Beach, so wanted a brace that was strong and yet open without cloth to avoid sweating and possible fungal infections. The brace provided stability and support so I could do my spin and weight/balance classes after my injury. After each workout, I would clean the inside of the brace with antiseptic wipes. Because this is not a custom fitted brace, I did have a bit of trouble with one strap rubbing the back of my calf but I put a cotton bandage in between and it solved the issue. Because of the stability it provided, I was able to do MORE and within a year of my ACL tear, I am now out of the brace, don't require surgery and have full flexibility again. The brace was worth every penny.
